Wind Spirit was first displayed at the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco and then won a purchase prize at Philbrook, becoming a part of the permanent collection in 1955. 
Francis Blackbear Bosin was born in a tipi in Oklahoma on June 5, 1921.  His father was Kiowa and his mother was commanche.
